Here's a super-simple addition to your Node development workflow that'll increase the speed of your modify-code/see-result software development loop.
If you have an
index.js in your project, you can simply type
node . to run it, but if you make any changes you'll need to type control-c and then type
node . again to see what your changes have wrought.
Not so if you have nodemon installed. After installing it (
npm install -g nodemon) use it just as you would node:
Then, when you make a change to your project, nodemon will detect it and reload. If you're working on a web app, you'll have to refresh your page, but it's still pretty sweet.
About having to refresh the page every time? Well, there are ways to fix that too. More to come. :)
